When was the last time you had difficulty having a good night’s sleep? Or, should the question be the other way around: When was the last time you had a good night’s sleep?

Whatever the case may be, when a person is having a hard time falling or staying asleep, it could be a case of a sleep disorder known as insomnia. The most common cause of insomnia is stress. However, other conditions which can lead to insomnia are physical discomfort such as stuffy nose due to colds or the pain of a headache; emotional troubles like family issues or relationship problems; or even an uncomfortable sleeping environment like a room that’s too hot, cold, or noisy; and a bed that is too soft or too hard to sleep on.

People with a sleep disorder have difficulty concentrating and are unable to work effectively. They can also experience emotional problems like depression and anxiety. Insomnia may afflict anyone from time to time. But if insomnia lasts for a month or longer with no relief, it becomes chronic insomnia which, in turn, more adversely affects a person’s health, work, and lifestyle. Still, having a sleeping problem should not mean the end of the world. People with chronic insomnia can get help for their condition from a doctor, therapist, or counselor. Several over-the-counter sleep aid pills are available in just about every local pharmacy. Many of these medications contain antihistamines which induce drowsiness by influencing the production of a chemical called histamine.

The words “natural” and “herbal” can be quite deceiving and confusing. Not that they don’t have any effective means of treating and curing health conditions, but they are not really highly recommended for everyone. Some manufacturers have ridden the herbal product’s popularity bandwagon and have created different products that either don’t do anything at all, or may just aggravate the problem.

If you have sleeping problems, then most probably you have heard of herbal sleeping pills. But are you really sure that the herbal sleeping pills you are taking are safe for you? Not only can they be causing you more problems, but they may not even offer an effective solution to your sleeping problems.

Stop wasting your money, what you need to do is to conduct your own research. Check out the ingredients of the herbal sleeping pills your taking, then ask an herbal practitioner or search the internet for the most popular herbal ingredients that are effective in treating sleeping disorders.

Check out reviews and testimonials about the herbal sleeping pills you’re taking. Many websites offer reviews from actual users and there you will be able to compare the different positive and negative effects the herbal sleeping pills have.

Losing sleep can cause many problems to your health and your productivity; don’t compound the situation because you didn’t do your research. Look for the most popular brands made by reputable companies, you can be sure that there will be lots of reviews on them and you can have all the information you need.

Overcoming insomnia is a journey - and, as you may have discovered, it can also be a matter of trial and response. Undertaken systematically overcoming insomnia and getting a good night’s sleep is an ultimately rewarding process. But, if you’ve already made basic changes to your diet and sleep routine, and you’ve tried specific techniques for reducing stress and improving the quality of your sleep, you may be tempted to turn to artificial sleep aids like sleeping pills.

A lot of people have tried different treatments for sleep problems from old wives tales remedies, to prescription medications. The first one doesn’t seem to work while the second treatment comes with horrid tales of addiction and side effects.
But since most people have different reactions to different herbal products and therapies, there may be a need to find and test which one will work for you, but once you find it, it will be all worth it.

While sleeping pills may promise a miracle cure for insomnia, the inherent risks of taking sleeping pills to combat insomnia are myriad. Regardless of whether you opt for short-term sleeping pills or a longer course, barbiturates, benzodiazepines and non-benzodiazepines alike all carry similar risks - namely the potential for over-use or, in the worst cases, the possibility of addiction.

Because sleeping pills serve to depress your body’s nervous system in order to create an artificial “sleep”, they do not facilitate the essential healing and restorative cycles and functions normally undertaken by your body during sleep. That’s why taking sleeping pills can often leave you feeling drowsy or inadequately rested in the morning.

Instead of turning to sleeping pills to overcome insomnia, try using one of the numerous natural and time-tested remedies that are widely available. Often referred to as a “herbal products”, melatonin offers one viable sleep-enhancing option.

Melatonin is the hormone naturally produced by your body to induce sleep, and many people have successfully restored their own productive sleep patterns by using melatonin to help stimulate the body’s own urge to sleep. Melatonin can be an effective natural alternative to sleeping pills, but should nonetheless be used with caution as it is not yet regulated by any government body.

Herbal remedies are another excellent alternative to sleeping pills and also to melatonin. Consumed in the form of herbal teas and supplements, or even as aromatherapy, herbs like valerian root and chamomile have been lauded as effective sleep-enhancers for centuries. Unlike melatonin or sleeping pills, chamomile does not have to be consumed over a period of time before it becomes effective. Chamomile tea can be used on an as-needed basis and many people have used its sleep-enhancing qualities to successfully combat bouts of insomnia.

Slightly stronger than chamomile and usually taken in pill form, valerian root is another well-known herbal sedative recognized for its ability to overcome insomnia and promote quality sleep. Valerian’s sleep-inducing properties are so effective that it is actually medically recognized as the herbal equivalent of Valium™. Indeed, it is said that the name Valium™ was derived from Valerian, although Valium™ itself is not otherwise connected with valerian in any way.

As with all adjustments to your sleep cycle or sleep routine, you should choose one natural sleep remedy and use it consistently for two weeks before making any other changes – this gives your body time to incorporate and respond to the sleep enhancing benefits of the remedy you have chosen.

When your best attempts to get a good night’s sleep have failed, it would be best to consult a doctor first. Herbalists can also help you to determine which would be more effective for you and to prescribe the right treatment.

Adult onset diabetes

The quantity of people with diabetes increases while their age at the onset of diabetes drops. Type 2 diabetes, which used to be called adult - onset diabetes, is now causing problems to children, due mainly to the unchecked obesity in children.

Dignosis of Diabetes

Having diabetes requires careful examination of a person’s blood sugar content. Besides looking out for high blood sugar, they also have to be knowledgeable of tell-tale signs of low blood sugar or hypoglycaemia. Using a blood glucose meter, an unfortunate diabetes sufferer can tell if his/her sugar level is below normal. Normal fasting blood sugar is 70 to 100 mg/dl.

Some causes of Diabetes

Psychological and emotional stress among mothers may result in an increased risk of their children having diabetes. Mothers who experienced a stressful event such as marriage breakdown, domestic violence, and being over-stressed and over-worked have a greater chance of developing diabetes.

Feeling tired?

If the quality of your sleep is sadly lacking then start an exercise program if you don’t exercise already. Exercise helps you sleep better in a number of ways and we’ll ignore all the other health benefits!

Benefits of Exercise for better Quality Sleep

Exercise will elevate the level of your natural body temperature rhythm, and assist your body temperature in peaking at a higher level. This will raise your energy levels over the course of the day and you’ll have more energy, lively, and motivated.

As your body temperature levels will settle to a higher level, your body temperature will also fall easier. This will allow you to sleep deeply, without interruptions.

A regular exercise regime will tend to counter your body temperature rhythm’s natural tendency to flat-line, allowing your body to get that precious sleep even if the day has been particularly stressful, or you couldn’t exercise on one particular day.

Women’s hair

Losing hair is a part of everyday living, whether you realize it or not, and generally gets worse as people advance in years , but can also affect young people. Losing one’s hair happens over a period of time and some research tends to indicate that follicle hairs will take up to 5 years to completely stop producing hair from the time that hair loss was apparent.

For many patients, losing some or all of their hair is a major emotional problem and is quite common after major surgery, so it is important for patients to speak to their surgeon about this possible side effect before undergoing surgery.

Children suffering from leukaemia may well suffer some amount of, or total loss of, hair. In male- and female-pattern baldness, the culprit is something called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which is derived from androgen, a male hormone.

Women

Generally women suffer from their hair becoming thinner as they get older and the the pattern of the loss of hair in women is different to the all-too-common balding crown and receding hairline that is a problem in men. Women’s hair loss is as common as men’s hair loss, but because men and women have different hormones, women typically lose their hair in a more diffuse way than men.

Melatonin is the one of the most enigmatic hormones in the body, along with HGH. MMelatonin is only produced by the small but highly important pineal gland, and doctors believe there is some kind of relationship between the pineal gland, the pituitary, and the rest of the body, which goes deeper than what we would expect.

The pineal gland is like an internal clock in the body, and it “senses” our physical condition 24/7. Around middle age, the pineal gland stops producing adequate melatonin, and likewise, the pituitary gland also reduces HGH output.

Could this be a signal for to the rest of the body, that we are no longer “useful” and for the aging process to swing into top gear? As a result, if you observe, the thymus, the adrenal glands, and the sex glands all start slowing down.

For all these intricate reasons, melatonin levels may mean more than just healthy sleep, although it appears to be its chief function. Melatonin is not just a sleep hormone, but its effects go much deeper than just preventing insomnia.

Having healthy bowels

Having healthy bowels is the foundation of well being and is critical in healthy human development, from the prenatal and early child years to adulthood. Having healthy bowels is equally important in reducing the risk of many chronic ailments and is vital to your children’s good health . It is generally agreed that it is best to stick to fundamental dietary principles of consuming less calories, incorporate some exercise in our lives, nibble on fruits and vegetables and whole grains and have less junk food.

Cancer Prevention

It’s well established that eating the “right” foods is more likely to prevent cancer : this includes consuming more fruit and veggies which are full of antioxidant properties (thought to have cancer-lessening properties), consuming low fat and high fiber foods. Although there is a large amount of media reports that bad diets cause cancer and good diets help fight cancer, the connection between diet and cancer is a little unproven ; however, new studies are coming out saying that ladies that eat a diet with less meat with lots of fruit decrease their possibility for breast cancer and colon cancer.

Gaining weigt in the winter

Depression and Sleep Disorders

Eating during winter often causes us to gain weight somewhat. Every winter we add a few pounds which can add to our appearance of being overweight . Usually people really add those pounds that are difficult to lose afterwards. It’s known that during the winter we are more prone to gain weight , and then in the spring and summer we will be wanting to try to discard those extra chockie bars that we have put on.

It is feasible for our genes to be taught to consume more foods high in fats and more alcohol during conditions of less heat, causing a gain in our weight. A reasonable explanation would be that our ancestors needed a significant quantity of fats in their body just to survive through these periods and that quantity acted as “fuel” for fighting the cold. Scientists say that we inherited these genes, and along with them the need to eat foods that are high in fats during winters.

Achieving better success

The Right Foods for Success will give you more Energy

You need nourishment for feeling ok and wearing a smile and overcoming depression . Vitamin B1 is the one vitamin that will keep you happy all night and help you become successful in your work. Your day should commence with a breakfast of bread and honey and the mid-day meal should consist of pasta and vegetables. You can finish your day with a dinner with chicken barbecue and fresh salad .

No matter what your job is, you should always have enough needed energy to see you through the day. Eat well , you won’t put on weight, but you have to devour as much as you need in order not to yearn for more food while at work . That will clearly increase your performances and generally aid with overcoming depression .

A sleepless night can leave you feeling bleary-eyed and tired, but most people quickly recover from a bout of insomnia. However, millions of people suffer from sleep disorders so persistent that their quality of life is compromised and various other medical disorders begin emerging. People who don’t get enough sleep can experience a multitude of physical and mental illnesses. In this article, we’ll talk about sleep disorders and how they can impact your life.

There are over one hundred different types of sleep problems that can be classified into four categories. Insomnia include difficulty falling and staying asleep. Narcolepsy and sleep apnea are examples of sleep disorders that prevent people from staying awake. People suffering from jet lag or those who have trouble sleeping because of shift work are having a disturbance in their sleep/wake cycle. People who experience sleepwalking or enuresis are experiencing sleep interruptions associated with behavioral problems. Any condition in which your sleep doesn’t follow the typical sleep phase cycle or doesn’t stay in each cycle for a sufficient period of time is a disruptive sleep disorder.

Those who have disrupted sleep tend to not experience “restorative sleep.” Sleep deprivation can make you irritable, tired, have less focus, a lower frustration level, and can lead to exhibiting behavior that’s more emotional and impulsive. One dangerous fact about sleeping disorders is that they weaken the immune system and make us more susceptible to other diseases like diabetes, cancer and even the common cold. It is not uncommon for people who suffer from sleep deprivation due to sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia to also suffer from other problems including diabetes, asthma or a second sleep disorder.

When gaining insight about sleep disorders, you will find that no one is immune. Many elderly people suffer from insomnia and often have to be put on medication for the condition. Some of the common sleep disorders that affect children include night terrors, nightmares and bedwetting. Nearly seventy percent of women report that they suffer from some type of sleep disorder. Similarly, over forty percent of women admit that daytime sleepiness disrupts their daily activities. Although menopausal and pregnant women are far more likely to suffer from a sleep disorder, women are two times more likely than men to experience a malady of this kind.

Almost everyone suffers from a sleep disorder at some time, but ignoring a persistent problem could result in serious health problems. Recovery may include a lifestyle change or altering your sleep habits. Talk to your doctor about sleep disorders and find out more about the variety of treatments available. A good night of sleep can improve both your health and your quality of life.

15. Increases libido
16. Sexual climax problems
Long term crystal meth side effects may include:
I. Psychosis and Paranoia
II. Hallucinations and Delusions
III. Obsessive compulsive behavior
IV. Damage to brain
V. Memory loss
VI. Aggressive or Violent behavior
VII. Meth mouth
VIII. Anorexia
IX. Mood instability

These side effects stem from the association the drug has on the bodies’ nervous system. Crystal meth when compared to cocaine produces a longer
feeling of euphoria, which can last for over 12 hours. That same pleasurable effect observed with heroin use may only last for a few minutes.
The sensational effect of the crystal disappears before the concentration of the drug starts to diminish in the blood. Thus the other side
effects such as tachycardia, high blood pressure may remain while the euphoric feeling diminishes.
Without the required treatment for this addiction the end result is usually fatal.

Due to the effects meth has on the blood vessels, there is a high potential for stroke, which in many cases lead to death. Other patients die of hyperthermia and cardiac failure .

Over the past decade the use of crystal meth had produced staggering results. A research conducted by NSDUH, noted that over 10.4
million people over 12 years have tried meth at some point in their lives.

The monitoring youth survey showed that 4.5% of high school students said they have used the drug at least once in their life.
With these surprising statistics, it was not a surprise when meth has been ruled a class A drug and stiffer penalties are in
place for people because using or selling the illegal form of the drug.

About one third of the population is habitual snorers and most common on males and overweight people. Snoring is a serious problem; this will deprive you of a good sleep at night causing drowsiness, irritability and reduced alertness during the day. it becomes chronic and may result to other illnesses. Snoring may cause high blood pressure, heart problems and weight gain. This can also affect your relationship with your family members who get irritated with your constant snoring every night. It will bring you social embarrassment if you will sleep outside of your home and you’ll probably be ridiculed by people shocked and surprised by your loud snoring.

Snoring is very common and is an involuntary action on the behalf of the snorer. Almost half of all adults snore occasionally and around one quarter of adults snore frequently. Children may also be the victims of snoring. Although males and females alike can experience snoring, it is more common in males and overweight persons. Additionally, snoring usually grows worse as the snorer gets older.

Most people think snoring is just annoying. The truth of the matter is that snoring can actually be a symptom of a more serious condition. for more information click stop snoring

Excessive snoring is generally caused by an obstruction in the air passage and various reasons initiate this.

1. Snoring occurs when there is some blockage in the air passage when we are asleep. It is the narrowing of our airway from a poor sleep posture or from an abnormality of our throat soft tissues. A narrow airway will hinder our normal smooth breathing and creates the “snore sound”. In most usual case, the “snore sound” was produced when we inhale air during our sleep. While in some case, “snore sound” can be produced when we are exhaling the air.

2. Heredity may be one cause of snoring by inheriting a narrow throat.

3. Obesity is another cause of snoring as obese people have fats accumulated around their necks narrowing their air passage.

4. Drinking alcoholic beverages tend to relax the throat muscles and the tongue during sleep. This would somewhat restrict the airways with the throat muscles tending to collapse inside making it difficult for breathing during sleep. If one should drink alcoholic beverages, drink in moderation, and preferably not before sleep. So with the question on how to stop snoring, stop drinking.

5. Smoking has been medically declared unsafe to one’s health. It destroys the tissues of your lungs and could even give you cancer. These cigarettes have harmful chemicals that cause the tissues on the throat to become agitated and irritated. The natural lining of your throat will be affected which will contribute to the obstruction of the airway – and thus your ever-loud sounding snores at night. So want to stop snoring, stop smoking.

If you suffer from snoring, you are not only missing out on a quality night’s sleep, but your family’s rest may be disrupted as well. The question facing many sufferers is not what causes snoring so much but, rather, they want to know how to stop snoring completely.

Here are a few tips on how to help to get rid of snoring problems that may help get rid of the problem:

1. Snoring can be caused by certain sleeping postures that affects the free flow of air in the throat, such as when a person is sleeping on his back. By simply changing sleeping positions, such as sleeping on the sides, will usually make the snoring go away.

2. Try to maintain a healthy diet. Eat a variety of food, keeping a low intake of fat. You should aim to eat five servings of fresh, frozen or canned fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

3. Nasal congestions can prevent breathing through your nose and redirects the inhalation through the fatty tissues of your mouth, which will cause snoring. If you have allergies that cause nasal congestion, try an oral or spray decongestant available from your chemist. Be careful not to use these over-the-counter (OTC) products on a long-term basis. If the congestion persists, consult your doctor.

4.Tone the throat muscles before bedtime by doing simple jaw exercises such as holding a pencil between the teeth for 5 minutes, or by pushing your tongue against your lower row of teeth.

5. Raise the head of the bed, or adjust your pillow or prop it up. Sleeping with your head raised may take some of the pressure off the airway, making breathing easier and reducing snoring.

6. If you smoke, quit. Smoking damages the respiratory system, and irritates the throat tissues making them become inflamed. An inflamed throat will easily become obstructed.

A successful snoring cure is available, thank goodness, that will give you satisfaction without having to resort to medication, devices or surgery. This snoring cure has been okayed by some 10,000 satisfied customers worldwide. You will find it treats the cause of your problem - doesn’t waste time masking the symptoms.

Snoring is the sound produced when the air cannot pass through your air passages easily during breathing while you sleep due to obstruction at the back of your mouth and nose. Snoring brings a lot of problems to you and your bedmate. Loud snoring is a constant nuisance to your bedmate and could rob your partner of a good sleep every night. There are also cases that you stop breathing in a few seconds while snoring and you have to wake up to catch your breath. Snoring is not only annoying to you and your partner it could also be an indication of a serious health problem and you need to find out how to get rid of snoring.

Snoring is very common and is an involuntary action on the behalf of the snorer. Almost half of all adults snore occasionally and around one quarter of adults snore frequently.
Excessive snoring is generally caused by an obstruction in the air passage and various reasons initiate this.

1. Snoring occurs when the passage of air in the throat is partially obstructed, usually because of a narrowing of the airway, making the air flow through soft tissues in the back of the throat. These soft tissues then begin to vibrate and make that familiar snoring sound. When a person snores, he or she continues to breathe throughout the slumber. That loud sound of snoring usually does not bother the sleeper, only the bedside partner.

2. Heredity may be one cause of snoring by inheriting a narrow throat.

3. The excess fat tissue build in the neck and throat will obstruct airway. While a poor muscle tone and lax muscles will makes snoring more likely.

If you suffer from snoring, you are not only missing out on a quality night’s sleep, but your family’s rest may be disrupted as well. The question facing many sufferers is not what causes snoring so much but, rather, they want to know how to stop snoring completely.

2. The soft tissues at the back of the throat, namely the uvula, palate and tonsils can obstruct the air passage. Children with large tonsils often snore. Overweight persons also have bulky neck tissue that tends to block the airway, causing severe snoring. So, keeping a slim figure through plenty of light exercises will cure this type of snoring.|Try to maintain a healthy diet. Eat a variety of food, keeping a low intake of fat. You should aim to eat five servings of fresh, frozen or canned fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

4.Throat muscles keep the throat open for air to flow freely. Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 4 hours and eating heavy meals or snacks 3 hours before going to bed. These tend to make the throat muscle “unwind” and become too relaxed, causing the air opening to narrow.

5. Raise the head of the bed, or adjust your pillow or prop it up. Sleeping with your head raised may take some of the pressure off the airway, making breathing easier and reducing snoring.

All but 10% of patients who seek relief by undergoing laser surgery for sleep apnea say they snore less and their apnea episodes have decreased. Not a bad percentage for a surgical procedure, right?

The problem is the old symptoms (sleeping difficulties, insomnia, etc.), eventually, return after one or two years – and become worse. In fact, out of all apnea surgeries using lasers (what surgeons call “laser assisted uvulopalatoplasty”), only one third have been truly successful.

Lasers do make it convenient for both surgeons and patients since, compared to a scalpel, it makes it easier to take out soft tissue from the throat and palate. As far as taking out soft tissue goes, lasers are great.

Unfortunately, scar tissue tends to form after surgery. This scar tissue is what blocks the airways anew. What’s worse is these scars are harder than the original soft, fatty tissue!

But undergoing laser surgery for sleep apnea should be a last resort when other, less invasive and irreversible, treatments have failed. Also, success rates for other surgical procedures, other than uvulopalatoplasty, may be different.

However, if the reason you’re considering surgery is because your CPAP or BiPAP apparatus has become so uncomfortable maybe adjusting the air pressure or changing your headgear is better than going under the knife – whether it’s laser-assisted or not.
